Independent Educational Evaluations
An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) in speech-language therapy is an evaluation conducted by a qualified speech-language pathologist who is not employed by the child’s school district. In New Jersey, parents have the right to request an IEE if they disagree with the results of a school district’s evaluation of their child. The independent evaluator provides an unbiased assessment of the child’s speech and language skills using standardized assessments, observations, and parent/teacher input to provide an objective opinion about the child’s communication abilities and educational needs. The results of the IEE will be considered by the IEP team when making decisions about eligibility, goals, and services.
We provide independent speech evaluations for families and school districts across Northern New Jersey. Reach out today if you are in need of an outside evaluation to confirm or deny whether a child requires speech-language therapy services in their school setting.
